On Saturday 28th February 2026, members and guests assembled at Freemasons’ Hall for a most enjoyable meeting of Burgoyne Lodge No. 902. The Lodge was opened in due form and, under the direction of the Worshipful Master and his Officers, a memorable afternoon of Masonry unfolded.
The principal business of the meeting was the passing of two worthy brethren: one from Skelmersdale Lodge No. 1658 and one from Formula One Lodge No. 4168. Both candidates approached the ceremony with sincerity and composure, and it was a pleasure to witness. The ceremony was conducted to a high standard throughout, with each Officer delivering his work with confidence and clarity. The Lodge can take great pride in the manner in which the ritual was performed and in the warm welcome extended to our newly passed brothers.
We were particularly delighted to be joined by visiting brethren from Romania and Switzerland, who had travelled to London for the weekend. Having attended the Emulation Lodge of Improvement Festival the previous evening, they continued their Masonic merriment with us on Saturday. Their presence added an international flavour to the meeting and was a wonderful reminder of the universality of our Craft.
A particularly special moment of the meeting was the presentation of a beautiful hand-painted icon of John the Baptist, generously gifted to the Lodge by our visiting Romanian brethren. The Worshipful Master and brethren of Burgoyne Lodge were deeply touched by this thoughtful gesture, and the gift will serve as a lasting reminder of the warmth and camaraderie shared during their visit.
Following the Lodge being closed, the brethren retired to the Grand Officers’ Robing Room for the Festive Board. In convivial surroundings, we enjoyed delightful conversation, the meeting of new brothers, and a series of thoughtful toasts. The atmosphere was warm and engaging, with experienced members and newer brethren alike sharing in the spirit of the occasion.
The meeting was a fine example of the vitality and camaraderie that characterise Burgoyne 902. Make sure to mark your diaries for our next meeting on Saturday 13th June!
